For those who already know their weekend may involve drinking...help your liver out and have some beets ready on hand. Beets are amazing! They're loaded with vitamins and minerals and help clean your liver and your blood.
They are also a good source of energy because they're high in sugars, the good kind of sugars that are gradually released into your system.
I love to add 85% dark chocolate into my smoothie, it melts as soon as it hits your mouth! Dark chocolate helps control blood sugar levels, full of antioxidants and gives you a boost of energy! This makes beets & chocolate the perfect mix for an intense workout drink!
I have to be honest with you, I found this smoothie to taste much better with a frozen banna. I highly recommend you add it in your smoothie! But, you know what they say...if it tastes 'healthy', it must be good for you! ;)
What you'll need:
3/4 cup of beets (boiled, peeled and chopped or canned beets are fine)
5 cubes of frozen plain yogurt
1/2 cup of frozen superfruit mix (blueberries, blackberries, dark sweet cherries and pomegrante arils)
1/2 of an avocado
4 squares of 85% dark chocolate
1 cup of coconut water
*recommended: add an overripe frozen banna for better taste. Or you can add dates or honey for extra sweetness.
*makes 4 servings
