Let the wedding plans begin!
Since watching 'The Wedding Planner' in my teens - Oh let's say, about a 100 times or more! ...I knew that when it came time to plan my own wedding, I would have all details organized, filed in folders- dotting all the i's and crossing all the t's. But in reality things are not so easily done, especially when you're on a budget! A lot of time, research and a bit of creative thinking needs to be invested to get what you really want.
I've learned that I'm actually a realistic bride - which surprised me!
Before I tackled the whole planning process I told myself to just take a deep breath and make sure to have a clear vision of what the overall look the wedding will have - It helps to give it a name or title (buzzwords). I'm beginning to realize how important it is to have this, this way you're never confused- either it goes or it doesn't. A clear vision also helps you to stand your own ground. There will always be a handful of people who will have an opinion about something and while you value their opinions you have to know when it's your say!
One of the best piece of advice I got was from my brother-in-law to be (by marriage), Ray (he makes the best pizza in Ottawa- JN Pizza!):
'Whatever you do, people will say something- It could be a perfect day, but someone will always see the fog. So do what makes you happy.'
His words could not be more true. Thanks Ray! :)
So, let's get started! ...a good start is with a mood board to get the overall feel of your day!
My wedding is in late summer (August), where the days are hazy with all flowers in full bloom! - August Bloom
I always gravitate towards a more neutral palette, my colors are (see first image):
1. Ivory Cream
2. Soft Mercury Silver
3. Rustic Gold
4. Smokey Charcoal Grey
5. *hint of: Twig Brown
6. *hint of: Asparagus Green
I love the look of tiny white/ivory flowers - baby's breath, lily of the valley...it gives it a more whimsical look...but by adding a large magnolia flower in the mixgives it a touch of refined elegance.
More to come, so stay tuned! Can't wait to plan with you...for those who have already gone through this, I would love to know about your experience!
Love,
Artifact Girl xo
