'Tis the season to be jolly...
I'm definitely getting into the Christmas spirit! Just put up the tree, draped the lights outside and hung my decorated wreaths!
I bought my wreaths last year at the hardware store (Canadian Tire) for $14.99 each. A pretty good deal, I might add! They were already pre-lit but came with no decor. I thought maybe this year I could dress it up a bit!
The Dollar Store is always a good place to stop by when you're looking to tackle a crafty idea. I went straight to the most sparkly section (decorative faux flower section) and started grabbing whatever I thought would go together. I laid it all together on the ground to visualize what kind of decor I wanted. I thought I was crazy for doing this, but I looked over my shoulder and I saw a lady following my lead! I didn't feel so silly. ;)
Now, that I have all my supplies, let's get started!
What you'll need:
decorative pieces: faux flowers, pine cones, ornaments, ribbons...
plyers
metal wire
wreath
First, I ripped apart all the flowers from the stems of the faux flowers, so I could decide where each piece would be placed. After all the pieces are removed from the stems lay them out on the wreath. When all the pieces are placed the way you like them, twist them into place. If some pieces do not have the thin wires attached - not to worry! Cut a piece of wire with the plyers and tie them onto the branch.
C'est fini. You now have a beautiful customized wreath, for the fraction of the cost!
I hope you have fun making these as much as I did! Enjoy!
P.S. Make sure to wear gloves when twisting the wires into place, your fingers tips will be sore!
Love,
